Be Thou At Peace

Retired Lt. Col. Ernest Thomas "Pete" Hayes, Jr., October 28, 1927 - February 28, 2017, age 89, is survived by wife Kim D. Hayes and their two children, Trang Connelly and Roger T. Hayes; his first wife, Sandra D. Hayes, and their five daughters, Michele Alexander, Leslie Hamilton, Melissa Martin, Heather Moore, and Holly Whipple; his grandchildren: Micaila, Alexander, Christian, Joshua, Mathew, Mark, Andrea, Melanie, Ariele, Taylor and Jordan; and his great-grandchildren Taylor, Riley, Paisley, Lucinda and Parker; predeceased: his father, Col. ET Hayes, Sr.; mother, Frances McFarlan Hayes, and sister, Julia Hayes Aamodt.

Lt. Col. ET Hayes, Jr., a West Point graduate, USMA class, 1950, served in the Army's Airborne early in his military career and later in Special Forces. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from military service, ET Hayes, Jr., went on to have a second career with General Dynamics as an engineering supervisor. After retiring from General Dynamics, Pete and his wife, Kim, retired to Bonita Springs, Florida, to enjoy their golden years together. The family requests that you light a candle in Pete's memory and listen to his favorite song, "Stardust." Rest in peace, our beloved soldier.
