I was a Private E-1 in basic training in the 3rd BCT Brigade at Fort Ord, CA in 1975 when BG Markham was the Asst. Base Commander. I remember him from a speech he gave to my brigade. I don't remember the content of the speech, but I do remember basic training like it was last week. It must have had a positive impression on me, since the Army became my career. My condolences to the Markham family and thank you BG Markham for your service and example in the Army. Contact me for any memories of Fort Ord.
