Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Paul Patti on March 28, 2008:

Mr B. was my statistics teacher at Saint Leo College's Myrtle Beach AFB extension campus, in the mid 1980s and helped me finish my Bachelor's degree. Besides being a great person and role model, he gave me, as a young airman, the confidence to believe in myself and accomplish what I set out to do. He always was very helpful and had practical advice. Thanks to what Mr. B. taught me, I now have a career as a technical instructor for a large computer software company.

Mr. B., you always taught me to believe in myself and that one could accomplish great things if they set their mind to it. Thank you for spending your time teaching me and everyone in class, even on those nights when it was hard for you to talk. You taught me that learning statistics and anything can be fun, and I try to do the same for students that attend my classes. I'm sorry that because of physical requirements I wasn't able to complete the commissioning program for which you recommended me, and hope that earning a doctorate will help to make up for that. I finally am married, you would really like my wife Geri as she is a very nice person.

I hope that someday we can share thoughts and ideas again. Please rest in peace, as God can truly say to you "well done my good and faithful servant." You are a wonderful person, and I will always remember you.

Your student always,
- Paul
