| I served with then Colonel H.K. Tompkins when he was the Commander, DISCOM, 101st ABN DIV. I was his driver/aide (I worked in the DISCOM S2/3 - SPO shop before becoming his d/a). He was a fascinating man especially to a young E4 at the time. He had a dry sense of humor which showed itself several times. Loved the umbrella story. He helped me get into the West Point Preparatory School. Condolences to the family. |
