Be Thou At Peace

Posted by jose b. dado on September 26, 2007:

ted was a phil mil acad yearling and first in the order of merit of PMA class 1953 when he was sent to west point to join. i was also a PMA yearling in PMA class 1954 when i was sent to join USMA class 1955. i was not as smart as ted as seen in our class standing. we were together at west point for 3 years. he got high grades and was awarded an academic star. in 1955, we were assigned to different bn combat teams in southern luzon during the campaign vs. communist rebels. he got married and i went to his bct camp to be an usher. we were both assigned to teach in PMA in 1956 and were together there for 3 years. ted was an usher when i got married while in pma. once more ted excelled academically and became a member of the corps of professors. i returned to field duty after 3 years of teaching. i was one of the godfathers when his ooldest son Ted Jr. was baptised. Ted Jr. graduated from West Point in 1980. This was only the second time that a cadet from the philippines was followed by his son to the usma.

after early optional retirement, ted had a successful career in business management, working for several years for a philippine company in the midle east. he was asked by phil. pres. fidel v. ramos usma 1950 to join the latter's administration as head of the national electrification administration. i served with him as general manager of the phil. natl. railways. after leaving government
with the end of the ramos term of office, ted was elected to the local council of his district in quezon city, but resigned not being able to adapt to the lack of honor in politics.

he was an older brother-in-arms and inspiring model to me both as a cadet, army officer and government administrator. well done ted. be thou at peace.

after early retirement, ted had a successful career
