Be Thou At Peace

When I was a high school grad from Stowe High School (1961) in McKees Rocks, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, CPT. J. Bob Henry showed up in the town, fresh from Madrid and his Spanish studies. I had just received my Congressional appointment to West Point. My family organized a dinner in my honor, and CPT. Henry was the featured speaker. I also was able to meet with him privately to discuss what I was about to undergo as a New Cadet in Beast Barracks. Subsequently, I had him as a Spanish instructor and enjoyed being with his family in his quarters, a welcome relief during those challenging days. I shall always remember his graciousness and encouragement. I myself later had two assignments at the Academy in the English Dept., and was inspired to carry on the tradition of being a "Plebe Pop."
