Bob Downen and I became debate partners in our Yearling Year. Bob was a better debater than me, but in team we won more than our share of contests both at USMA and at a dozen or so colleges mainly in New England. Lee and I saw quite a bit of Bob at Benning. He was fun and he was smart. The years moved us around. We saw him and Mary Ann once here in Scottsdale and Bob once more just after Mary Ann died. We talked on the phone several times. He always sounded hale and hearty. We are feeling the loss of a good friend. Goodby good friend! Lee and Bill Schulz |
