Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Olene Stilwell on February 17, 2021:

I worked at the Unified School District HC's last job as Associate Superintendent He ran the Business Department and was very efficient and friendly to all he met and worked with. He spoke to me about his flying days in Viet Nam where he would fly into very dangerous areas and extract soldiers who were under heavy attack. He was proud as he should have been of his efforts there. The school district was at that time very difficult to run with a School Board that cared more about their secrets and spending taxpayer money for personal gain. This made HC's job extremely difficult and it was hard for him to follow orders that he was morally against. I would communicate with him about it and he was eventually forced to leave to uphold his ethics. Unfortunately I was placed in similar position and left also after they destroyed my confidence in the political actions they took. I commend HC for his difficult job and feel he was a great friend He was respected by all his subordinates and I can say I was fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with him because of his high moral standards. He probably learned those from his time serving his country. Thanks HC for setting a wonderful standard of ethics to all that knew and worked with you!!! I was a friend and remember him to this day as a wonderful man who worked hard and spoke very lovingly of his wife and family. I was lucky to have known you.
