It is always very sobering to write on the eulogy page of any member of the West Point family. To look into the eyes of the one taken away too soon and suddenly, is heartbreaking. Just from looking at New Cadet Bower's athletic photos, it is obvious that he was a very accomplished and determined young man. I know his friends and family were so proud to have seen him attain the goal of new cadet at West Point. So many people live selfish lives focused on their own selves. This was a young man who wanted to serve others and wanted to live beyond himself. Though his time was cut way too short, his family and friends can take great pride in knowing that he was doing something meaningful and honorable. I know he was special for many, many reasons, but giving his life in service for others makes him unique. Many at West Point will miss the opportunity to have met this incredible new cadet and person. |
