As parents of cadets we sometimes wonder why they chose the difficult path trodden at West Point. You think: He could have gone to WVU and partied with his friends, joined a frat and had fun. Instead he is spending his summer going through dangerous manuevers. Finally you come to grips with this and realize your son is not like all the others. He has the soul of a warrior, the heart of a lion, and a fierce love of God, Country and family. He wants to make a difference not just in Fairmont or West Virginia but in the world. This is why he chose to take the tough road. This is your son, one of the finest young men in our state and our Country. He will be missed deeply. We are so sorry for your loss.
