Bower Family and Friends: We shed tears with you in devastation at the news of Jacob's death and cannot begin to comprehend the pain this has caused you all. Each and every cadet at West Point is training to be the best soldier he/she can and risking their life for it. As parents of a 2014 cadet, we accept this path has a higher risk than others our son could have chosen and we know if his name is called, he will die with honor and in service to his family, friends, neighbors and strangers across America. Because of this, we couldn't be prouder of the path your son chose and are forever indebted to his commitment to the USA and strangers like us. May he rest in peace.
