Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tammy Poor on September 2, 2018:

Thomas Dabney Poor was my father and he died an unsung hero. I've made the decision to sing his praises throughout the world so loud that the entire universe will hear. He was Strategic Commander, Paratrooper, Ranger, Communications and Technology expert for the US ARMY, but what he was to me was more than words could ever say. His father was Brigadier General Benjamin W. Poor and we go back to Brigadier General Enoch Poor and his brother LTC Thomas Dabney Poor, who were very close friends with George Washington before and during the American Revolution. I honor the native Americans who taught us to fight the most important war in world history. My father wanted to be a Methodist Priest and a pediatrician. Granddad said that it was his duty to God and country to go to West Point and become a true soldier in the fight for freedom.

He told me when I was four years old sitting on his lap that he couldn't believe he gave birth to a child that could understand military strategy and taught me EVERYTHING he knew. He told me that I was going to have a mighty mission someday and that people would try to stop me. He taught me to play chess and to think ahead and with the mind of one who anticipates the opponents every move. He was right. He passed from untreated PTSD that he medicated with alcohol and died at age 62, but not before he taught me everything I needed to WIN the war on global poverty, the chronic mental health crisis and suicide epidemic that ensued after 9/11. I've been on the mission of love he put me on from day one when he named me Tammy after Debbie Reynolds, the love of his life who brought the character, Tammy, in the movie, Tammy's in Love theme song that Debby won her first big award for. He was a consummate musician, artist, comedian, was happy-as-a-lark, fun-loving and the TEACHER of my dreams. He was God, he was Jesus, he was Prince Charming, my Knight in Shining Armor and the savior of my soul when the vampires that prey on the lovers of the world but contribute no love tried to snuff me out after he passed on of liver disease prematurely. I know that he's in Heaven counting his blessings for teaching me that sacrifice for the greater good of all life and the planet itself is the only mission worth serving and pursuing. THANK YOU DAD!

Tommy Tatatimus took two tees
to tie two tips to two tall trees.
How many tees in that? More than we'll ever need to keep the universe running on the right track my zippity doo-dah day DAD! My eternal hero and the LOVE of my life. So far no man has compared to you. Let's hope I find him soon or I won't mind dying a spinster because there is no spin in stir the pot! Thanks Wally Gator! Exit Stage Left Snagglepus!
