Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ron Rule on October 8, 2005:

Though Fred and I were in the same regiment we knew each other only to say hello. Fred stood out with his gold stars. Our next meeting after graduation was in June 60 when he stopped by to tell me what to expect from the math dept at Princeton. He was in his second year in the aero dept while I would be starting in the mech dept. This was a big help and a wonderful gesture on Fred's part. Fred, on his own time, was kind enough to check me out in the T-Bird so I would not have to fly the C-47, my being a C-118 pilot. Ruthie and my boys got to know Jean and their children during the next year. Fred departed for WP to teach and our paths never crossed again. This is too bad as Fred was a truly nice person, a good Christian and a man who maintained a sage and harmonious home life. We have once again lost an admirable classmate. Rest in peace.
