| Although Chuck and I were classmates, I didn't really know him during our four years at USMA. However, Chuck, Rich Miller and I spent two years together at the University of Michigan pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering and Nuclear Engineering in '59-'61. When time permitted, Chuck and Phyllis, Rich and Mary Ann, Ruth and I had some really good times together during those years. Chuck was a hard worker, pursuing his studies with diligence and excellent results. The three of us tried a few rounds of golf on the UofM course, with consistently lousy results....but the beer at the Pretzel Bell after was really great! We didn't see Chuck again until the late 1970s when he visited us several times in Morristown, New Jersey. We saw him periodically after that, and maintained contact by telephone and e-mail. Chuck was one of the "good guys" of '55. He'll be missed. |
