James Everman Drummond

West Point, 1955

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by H. Hamilton "Chip" Rice III on November 12, 2012:

I am a 1982 graduate of West Point. My father(who is not a grad) and "Uncle" Jim were young Lieutenants together and became very good friends. I grew up visiting the Drummonds at various postings around the United States and Canada. My father held Jim Drummond in the highest regard and continually encouraged me to attend West Point as I was growing up because he wanted me to emulate Uncle Jim.

Uncle Jim assisted me throughout my time at West Point and my six year Army career. He was always willing to listen, mentor me and offer sage advice.

Jim Drummond was as fine a person as I have ever had the opportunity to meet and associate with. I will always remain in his debt.

I am sorry that I could not attend the funeral but my thoughts and prayers are with the Drummond family.

We sons of today, salute you.

Be thou at peace.
