When Mary and I were married 43 years ago on a hot August afternoon in Tupelo, Mississippi, Carl Cathey rode a unairconditioned bus all the way from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to stand by me at the wedding. He fought flies and mosquitoes for two days, coming and going. He was the only guy in the world who would have made that trip. Carl, with Marcia by his side, went on to great sucess, both in the military and after his retirement. He had the ability to focus on the minutest detail and yet move on and see the big picture. He is the most loyal roommate, and finest man I have ever known. I will miss him. |
