Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Fontaine on January 8, 2002:

I roomed with J more than I did with any other classmate. Yet, I never had enough of his sunny presence and quiet determination. I remember asking him to entertain my date while I walked the area, never realizing that the two of them had a crush on each other.
J was too much the gentleman to take advantage of that situation but when my interest in Phoebe flagged, he asked my permission to pursue her. Unfortunately, the freedom to be together was unfulfilling compared to unrequited love. It didn't last and J married Mona his chldhood friend soon after graduation.
We were able to track down J's daughter Ashley through the Internet and exchanged messages with her and her mother. Bundy and I were happy to see that J would have been proud of his six-year-old daughter.
