Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bill Roth on February 16, 2016:

Jon was a special friend of mine. As a roommate he was always the epitome of kindness, quiet, always smiling, steady. You couldn't ask for a better friend. As a coincidence he grew up on the same street in Chicago that my father had lived on, a very small world. I called upon him when I needed help with technical problems as I knew that he was smarter than I could hope to be. He was one of the very few members of the Corps of Engineers who was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge for his service in Viet Nam. Not a wonder, but what was fun was that during one of his tours, instead of the standard M16, he carried, being from Chicago of course, a trusty Eliot Ness style Thompson Tommy gun; nice touch I thought.

May he rest in peace, he will always be remembered with great love and his memory will be cherished.
