Ted Eugene Bishop

April 16, 1933 - October 12, 2008

Col. Ret. Ted Eugene Bishop, 75, of Berryville, Virginia, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Col. Bishop was born April 16, 1933 in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Fred Joseph and Velma Agnes Hartman Bishop. He was a graduate of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1955. He served 28 years in the U. S. Army with two tours in Vietnam. He retired as a Colonel in 1983. He was a member of Emmaus Church in Berryville where he served as elder. He was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers, American Legion Post 41 of Berryville, and F.I.S.H.

He married Nancy Emma VanStronder on June 26, 1955 in Findlay, Ohio. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Cynthia Ingels of Purcellville, VA and Pamela Ingram of Leesburg, VA; and four grandchildren, Kaia and Anika Henriksen and Jeffrey and Conner Ingram. Two brothers, Donald Bishop and Harold Bishop, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel in Berryville with Rev. David Harper and Pastor Mike Dean officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Ingram, Dave Ingels, Doug Hackworth, Bill Veilleux, Dave Pelleman, and Mike Dowling. Military honors will be provided by Winchester V.F.W. Post 2123 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:00 A. M. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to F. I. S. H., P O Box 1154, Berryville, VA 22611, Emmaus Church, P O Box 1, Berryville, VA 22611, or a local charity of your choice.
