Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tom Phillips on December 13, 2007:

The Memorial Service for Russell Barry Hodges (Russ), age 77,  was held on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lompoc, Ca. Russ leaves his wife of 52 years, Irene, two daughters, Margaret and Nancy, eight grandchildren and  four great grandchildren. The service was attended by 200 or more people, and Russ was remembered by his family and about 20 others as a loving, dedicated husband and father, a passionate supporter of the Civil Air Patrol and CAP cadets, and a strong and devout Christian. Russ obviously had a great, and positive, impact on many lives and is fondly remembered by many people, particularly the young folks. From the testimonies, it was clear that Russ embodied Duty, Honor, Country. The CAP performed full military honors.Russ was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church, the CAP, and the Order of Daedalians.Representing the class were EJ O'Brien and myself. The condolences and love of the class were given to Irene and her family, as well as advice that the class was making a gift to the Youth Fund of the Calvary Baptist Church, and that a Memory Page was also being opened in Russ's name at the AOG. Thanks again to Bud Gurney (54) who notified us of Russ's passing. Bud and his wife were also at the service."Well done, Russ; Be thou at peace.
