Walt had charisma rather than leadership. He felt strongly about everything from politics to war. He surprised many of us by choosing the Corps of Engineers, but then transferred to Infantry, and then was killed while mountain climbing in Europe. He was a hard guy to ignore. I have missed his fierce, but good-natured, energy for many years. DF |
