Jack D. Trawick

December 17, 1932 - March 9, 2017

Jack D. Trawick passed away at home surrounded by family in San Antonio on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born December 17, 1932 in Brownwood, Texas, to Evans and Josephine Trawick. There he met his life-long love, Virginia Hallum, in first grade.

He realized his dream of graduating from The United States Military Academy at West Point in 1955, followed by Army service as an Airborne Ranger in the 3rd Armored Division.

After leaving the military, he completed graduate work at both The University of Texas at Austin and Carnegie Mellon, coming to San Antonio in 1964 to join Frank Draught Consulting Engineers. He was Comptroller and Director of Operations for the 1968 World's Fair (Hemisfair), followed by 32 years as Executive Vice President and later President of Strafco, Inc. Upon retiring from Strafco, he taught in the Business Management School at UTSA until 2007.

He and his family were active in the life of Coker United Methodist Church since 1969, serving in a variety of volunteer and leadership roles. His other civic involvements included the Chamber of Commerce, the Business Committee for the Arts, the Performing Arts Association, Youth for Christ, and the Campfire Girls.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Evans and Josephine Trawick; his brother, Joe; and his wife, Virginia. He is survived by son, David and wife Jill; daughter, Adele and husband David; son, Roy and wife Natalie; nine grandchildren; and a "pending" great granddaughter. He is greatly missed by family and friends - his loving support, generous provision, and never ending drive for excellence. We are at peace knowing that he is at the Lord's banquet table with our beloved Mama. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Mindy Fuller and "Lulu" Rosales of Embrace Hospice, and Rose Nesbitt, R.N., for their compassionate and loving care of Jack during his final days.
