Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Dugan on October 28, 2011:

Sope, we still miss you. You were kinda' off the beaten track down there in Texas and I know that your last years were not much fun, but you sure had plenty of fun in earlier years! I spent the most time with you at our Armor Basic Course at Ft. Knox - you and Bill Edwards, Skip Macdonald, and Loomis Crandall. Let's see, it was you, me, and either Skip Macdonald or Bill Edwards that drove up to Ann Arbor in your yellow Ford station wagon to see Army play Michigan. What a trip - not much sleep, but we hit the frat and sorority parties after the game that evening. I forget where we slept that night - if anywhere. I also remember that you hit a really big raccoon that jumped out of the bushes right in our path - no way to avoid.

You had an illustrious military career and, as required of all runts, took no s--- from anyone - including your superiors.

Dan
