Colonel Joseph Fraser Vincent

U.S. Army (Ret.)

Col. Joseph (Joe) Fraser Vincent, U.S. Army (Ret.), 82, died Sunday morning, October 5, 2014, of complications from ALS, surrounded by his family.

The second of two sons born to the late Col. Stewart T. and Mary D. Vincent (Ret.), April 8, 1932, in Manila, Philippines.

Born into an Army family. Graduated from Texas Military Institute in 1949. Entered the U.S. Military Academy in 1951. Graduated in June 1955 and commissioned 2nd Lt, Field Artillery. Served with the 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Infantry Division and 1st Field Force Artillery. A Vietnam War veteran. Other assignments include Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff, Offutt Air Force Base, NE; Office of Director of Defense Research and Engineering; Office of Deputy Chief of Staff for Research Development and Acquisition; and The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command. 1975 graduate of U.S. Army War College. Retired Col. USA in 1979.

Survived by beloved wife of more than 56 years, Frances P. Vincent; 4 great children, Joseph F. (Jill) Vincent, Jr., James L. (Susan) Vincent, Mary F. (Robert) Perry, and William S. Vincent; 1 brother, Lt. Col. Robert D. (Bettie) Vincent (Ret.); and 12 outstanding grandchildren.

For the record, before his death, Joseph Vincent requested that his children and grandchildren be described as mentioned above.
