Be Thou At Peace

Bill, or Willie as he was also called, Jack Karnes and I were roommates for either 3 or 3 1/2 years. In that amount of time you get to know a man. You get to know him even if there was a facade or pretense that he tried to assume. To quote the cliche "What you see is what you get." Bill was one of the truly good persons that I have ever met. He was a genuine friend, a dedicated soldier - airman, if you will - and a man with a great but subtle sense of humor. He was a solid citizen. All of these are well worn cliches but, that notwithstanding, are absolutely applicable to Bill. I am only sorry that our service careers did not overlap - he being Air Force and I Army. A great human being was taken from us far too soon. Rest in Peace, friend. |
