Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Caren Hergenroeder on November 3, 2015:
Heaven gained one of the best men I know, my father-in-law, Colonel Leo Hergenroeder, United States Army, retired, USMA Class of '55. Dad died peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was the best father, father-in-law and grandpa that we could ever ask for. Smart as a whip, quick to offer encouragement, a calming force in our family and patriotic to the core. Dad was my safe haven. A person who I knew would love and accept me no matter what. Patient and kind and immediately made me feel like his daughter. A wonderful Pop Pop to my children, always making them laugh, filling their lives with fun, toys, giggles, bubbles, balloons, Doc McStuffins, songs, the "Magic Closet", the "Ticklemonster" and most importantly, unconditional love. Dad, you will be so incredibly missed. Thank you for teaching us all how to live a purposeful life. Your legacy will live forever in our hearts. Go Army! Beat Navy! Go Steelers! Grip Hands....Be thou at Peace. -Caren, daughter in law, USMA Class of '97
