Be Thou At Peace

Dearest Sara,

Billie and I are in a state of shock after hearing of the death of Pres on Monday! We are so sorry for you and your wonderful family. There won't be time for us to get to Roanoke, but we will be there tomorrow in spirit and in prayer. I always looked up to Pres as one of the stalwarts of not only our cadet company, but the entire class. He did so much that was truly extraordinary. He not only was an outstanding Infantry officer, but went on to become a doctor, radiologist and then, unbelievably, a lawyer! What a phenomenal life...devoted entirely to his fellow man! He fought for the freedoms of others, protected their health and defended their rights. He was truly a great man, esteemed comrade in arms, beloved classmate and dear, old friend. Our hearts go out to you, dear Sara, with hopes you may find peace and understanding in this dark hour. Pres has run his course on earth well and will surely rest in peace.

Our best love and prayers,

Jim and Billie Darrah
