Be Thou At Peace

Posted by James Mayson on April 6, 2009:

I am the youngest son of Preston Mayson. I want to thank the Class of 55 for their prayers and support following my father's death. He was very proud of West Point and his service to his country. I was a young boy when he returned from Vietnam and as I grew up he often spoke of his classmates and the sacrifice of those who served in Vietnam. He was very emotional about all of you. When I was about ten he and I were watching the television coverage of the returning POWs. He saw Dave Burroughs get off the plane and with great emotion sat me down to explain the courage and sacrifice of all of you who had served in Vietnam. He was my hero. I thank you all for your prayers and may God bless each of you, James
