Sara Heaton Mayson

24 September 1933 - 27 March 2019

Sara Heaton Mayson, 85, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. General Leonard D. Heaton and Sara Hill Heaton; and her husband of 54 years, Preston B. Mayson Jr.

Surviving are her two sons and their wives, Brooks and Millie Mayson of High Point, N.C., and James and Colleen Mayson of Staunton, Va.; six grandchildren, Sara Kathryn, Dudley, Morgan, Chloe, Emma and Preston; and three stepgrandchildren, Reilly, Audrey and Sloan.

Sara was a devoted wife and mother, a southern lady, full of grace, and dedicated her life to the betterment of those she loved.

The family wishes to thank the Brandon Oaks Community for their years of compassionate care of Sara.

Sara was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church where there will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019, with Senior Pastor George Anderson officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Second Presbyterian Church.
