Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jack Campbell on September 22, 2012:

Yes, Bob was a classmate, but more than that, he was a friend. We were friends at West Point and then upon graduation went our separate ways. We met again in DC and fortunately our friendship had not waned and we renewed our old bonds without missing a step. After we had both retired we were able to rekindle our friendship over and over again through reunions and class trips.

It was easy to stay friends with Bob because he was fun to be around. His sense of humor was keen and often revealed only by his sly grin. I was lucky to spend time with him on his last class trip as it gave us a chance to drum up a lot of fond memories.

I was lucky to have Bob as a friend, but you were really the lucky one Linda! I pray you'll find some true happiness from having known him as wife and life's companion. Bob, be thou at peace. Linda, Carry on...

Your friend, ~jackC
