Be Thou At Peace

Posted by TOMMY WEST on May 3, 2010:

Chuck and I go back 60 years to our formative days in the USMA Prep school. I was just a little shaver in those days with less than 3 months service. Chuck was my hero. After all he was a 'Corporal' and that to me was like a 4 star.
But it wasn't til 50 years had passed and we had finished our service that Chuck and I became really close.
I always took for granted his long service as the Class Scribe until that time and all that it intailed, not just the quarterly Class notes but keeping up with our Classmates in general. If I wanted to know something about our Class or Class business...he was there...thru, I don't know how many, Class Presidents, at least 8 to take a guess. He was a regular participant in our Washington activities and ready in time of need working behind the scene for our Class.
When Chuck left for Colorado it was for a well deserved rest, to step down from his life of service to his Country and to his Class. Little did I know that that rest would be so short lived before he was called to be the Heavenly Scribe.
May he care for those of our Class already departed just as he did here among us.
A blessed peace to you Chuck. I'll see you on the other side.
