Be Thou At Peace

Posted by marlowe VINEY on May 3, 2010:

How many times did I correspond with Chuck over the years to up date him on our California West parties as well as keep him informed about our family in general??? More times than I can remember.

Perhaps my most memorable moment with Chuck was prior to the formal dinner at the 50th reunion. Chuck had invited me to see the class gift that was to be presented to my grandson, Isaac Erbele '03, the first of his generation to graduate from the Academy. Because Isaac was detained taking first step medical boards, he could not be present, instead Chuck would present the gift to me in Isaac's absence. He wanted to be certain that he had all the facts straight.

Chuck was always thoughtful and caring. His class notes certainly reflected his love for his classmates. His articles kept the class closely knit through his dedication to the task of Class Scribe. He deserves a million thank yous.

Jack had to be grinning from ear to ear, as he waited to grip hands with a dear friend. Those of us left behind sorrow over our loss, but know that time grows short before we too shall see Chuck again.

Chuck, all that you came to do is finally done, rest in peace dear friend.
