Be Thou At Peace

| Charles Walton, as I called him, and I were friends in the English Department at the Air Force Academy from 1963 to 1965, when I went back to a flying assignment at Travis AFB, CA. We were close golfing buddies and played together 2 or 3 times a week. I lost track of Chuck until he called me in San Diego after he had retired, and we renewed lots of old memories. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor and a strong dedication to duty. It was with great sorrow that I learned of his death, but his memory is forever with me after all these years. Rest easy, Chuckie -- I miss you. |
