Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Dugan on January 6, 2016:

Well, John, you're finally at rest after a long, difficult time. I do recall our Cadet days on leave out in Tucson, AZ. While my Dad was PMS&T at the U of Arizona, you lived there with your Mother and had a real "in" at the University. Yep! You fixed me up with some really pretty coeds and we double dated a lot to include crossing the border at Nogales - was that illegal? You drove a maroon Hudson Hornet and we took it up MT.Lemon on occasion - w/dates.

Then there was our "Space A" trip back to West Point after Summer leave. We hopped a C-47 out of Davis-Monthan AFB and rode it all the way to Montgomery,AL where we kinda' got stranded. Then it was a bus from there to somewhere to continue our journey back to WP. We did finally make it and on time.

I did visit you and Irma at your very nice ski ranch in the mountains West of Denver. That was an enjoyable evening before I had to get on my way (by car) back to California.

It was nice seeing you at the Austin Mini and you were getting around very well despite two knee replacements.

So, John, have a good rest after your long and distinguished Army career. You were certainly no REMF, but out there in the thick of the Vietnam jungles.

Your friend and Classmate, Dan
