Donald Emerson Reid

West Point, 1955

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ed Trobaugh on February 13, 2007:

Don Reid and I and 26 others like us joined the Corps initially on 5 July 1950. All 28 of us finally graduated with the Class of 1955. Don was an impressive individual--especially to a 17 year old straight out of high school in Indiana. Don impressed me all his life. I had never known a paratrooper, nor had I known anyone who went to Annapolis and then left to become a Cadet at West Point. Don and I did C Squad football together, he as manager and I as a scrub defensive halfback. He engendered respect. I recall his marriage to Joyce and the beauty of Joyce and the ceremony. They made the Class of 1955 proud. I am confident when my green light goes on, Don Reid will be Jumpmaster!
