Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Richard Fitzpatrick on April 7, 2010:

During my tenure with the then Lockheed-Georgia Company, I was honored to accompany Fred Knieriem as his French interpreter to Algeria, Tunisia and Niger. It was largely due to his encouragement and motivational skills that I was able to rise to the challenge of playing this vital role for the Lockheed negotiating team.

Fred was a superb human being, a great motivator, a born leader and team player. In addition, he was innovative and highly effective in his interaction with numerous overseas customers, and it was thanks to his natural gifts that these negotiations proved so successful for Lockheed.

While Lockheed has always had its share of outstanding specialists in all phases of the aeronautical business of manufacturing and selling airplanes, Fred Knieriem was for me the one individual who truly stood out and who had a major positive impact on my own professional experience.

I will always cherish his memory and be inspired by the full life that he was able to lead. He was unique in every sense of the word, someone you meet only once in a lifetime.
