It is very difficult and sad to say goodby to any teammate and classmate that I have been close friends with, but to many who knew him, Al was kind of special. Al was part of that valiant group of cadets who played under Coach Blaik who toiled along with the rest of us to rebuild the Army team during those early,difficult dark days of the '50s.He played guard and he was very tough in the trenches, yet he had that wonderful Texan sense of humor that kept us all laughing. Although I saw Al very little after graduation, those few meetings stimulated so many fond memories and affection. Goodby, Al. Save a locker for me up there in the House of the Lord. Ski Ordway |
