On the evening of Sunday, February 6, 2022 Colonel Michael A. Stevenson USA, Retired, 89, of Columbus, passed away at St. Ann's Hospital. He was born in Detroit, Michigan November 21, 1932 and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He was the eldest of three brothers and the father of eight children. He graduated from United States Military Academy West Point with the Class of 1955 and served a 30 year career in the United States Army. After retiring from his military service, Michael worked another 15 years as Director of Physical Plant for Columbus State Community College.

Throughout his life, Michael was a devout Catholic who enjoyed his family, traveling, reading, sports & service to his community. He was a man of honor, faith, respect and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Loretta (Visger) Stevenson; brother and sister in-law, Thomas & Patricia Stevenson; and loving wife Elizabeth Anne (McGrath) Stevenson married 40 years passing in 2004. Also preceded by wife Ada Ann (Dudman) Stevenson who passed in 1960.

He will be deeply missed by his brother Jack (Carolyn) Stevenson; children, Joseph (Janet) Stevenson, Mark (Cheri) Stevenson, Mary (Michael) Gallion, Barbara (Bill) Heightland, Jennifer (Rich) Griggs, Deborah Stevenson, Andrea (Edward) Kuehnel and James Stevenson, as well as his 17 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will take place at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 15, at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Parish, Fr. Sill to officiate. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The Mass will be livestreamed: stmatthew.net.
