Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Humphrey on April 25, 2018:

Granddad,

It's hard to believe that it has been 18 years since your passing. I am always being told by our family how much we look alike.

I feel as though we never truly met. In 1989, the same year I was born, you were diagnosed with both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. As my cognitive ability grew your's dwindled. I will never forget the power of the storm that came at your wake to call you up.

Thankfully I had the good fortunate to be raised by your son Rick. He has taught me the principals and values that you instilled in him. I wish you were here to see the man he is today.

Although I will never live up to the legacy you have left behind, I thank you for the strength and supreme will you have passed down to me. I hope to one day make you proud.

Your Grandson,
John Humphrey
