Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Perry W. Martin on July 21, 2009:

Colonel Chikalla was my Battalion Commander when I was company commander of Charlie Company 1/502 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was one of the best commanders or people that I have ever known or worked for. He was strong as a Bull, in great shape and was a Warrior. When he walked up to a troop they knew the ultimate soldier was in their presence. One year he had a Halloween party at his house. When I arrived he opened the door, he had cut off a mop head and taped to his head, and had a dress on with of course his combat boots. In the field he was the fighting machine. The world will always miss him.
