Thomas John Brooks

December 29, 1932 - March 22, 2019 (86 years old)

COL Thomas "Tom" J. Brooks, USA Ret, age 86, of Bellbrook, passed away Friday, March 22nd, 2019. Tom was born December 29th,1932 to Stella (Wojtowicz) and John Brooks in Hamtramck, Michigan. Tom was a proud alumni of West Point where his 30 years of service to our country began. It is also where he developed a taste for pistachio ice cream and was an extra in the movie "The Long Gray Line" as a cadet.

In his early years his favorite hobbies were deer hunting and fishing in the Upper Peninsula, but later he enjoyed helping to coach the boys baseball teams and hoarding all the black licorice on family trips to Mackinaw Island and various battlefields and historical sites. He shared his Polish heritage with his family by playing the accordion and teaching the boys to make pierogies.

Tom's various passions led him to become a founding member of the Mackinaw Associates, acting as the Southwest Ohio West Point Liaison Officer, and joining a reenactment group for the War of 1812 called "Steele's Rifles." He is also retired from Wyle Labs where he worked for 23 years as a Logistics Engineer.

Tom was a coffee loving, country serving, hard working, husband and father and his "Truly Outstanding" self will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela "Pam" (Wildinger) Brooks, 2 sons, Craig Brooks (Jennifer) and Douglas Brooks (Wendy), and 4 grandchildren, Tyler, William, Sylvia, and Sebastian.

To help the family celebrate Tom's life, you are invited to share during his Life Celebration Visitation at Sugar Valley Golf Club, 1250 Mead Road, Bellbrook, Ohio 45305 on March 29, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, with Memorial Services to follow immediately afterward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Ste 410, Rockville, MD 20852.
