Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bill Harris on June 2, 2004:

I knew Bill for the four years at West Point, and then through Pilot Training, and thereafter. During all the time I knew Bill, he was an outstanding person, a real gentleman, and a great friend. We both shared South Area, and attended many of the same classes together during four years of academics. I don't recall whether we attended Primary Flight Training at Malden together, but we did run into each other again at Basic.

We had the same instructor, 2LT Francis X. Sees. Our Flight was "Pink Four." Pink Four was composed of Harris, Harnley, and Hock. What a dynamic group we were. We had lots of laughs, and car pooled out to Greenville AFB each day from our apartments in town. Bill went into SAC, and flew with a friend of mine, CAPT Don Nangle. I knew with Don, Bill was always in good hands.

Bill returned to the Washington Area, and lived in the same community my family and I lived in, Red Fox Forest. We would occasionally see Bill and Adelaide there.

We had a lot of very happy times together, pleasant memories, and a lot of laughs. It's hard to believe Bill's been gone now for more than twenty years. Obviously, I've never forgotten him. You were a good frind, Bill, until we meet again, my prayers and best regards always.
