MILLER, LTC JOHN W. (RETIRED), of Hoover, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the age of 73. He was a member of the First Christian Church and faithfully attended Saint Mark United Methodist Church. LTC(R) Miller was a graduate of USMA at West Point, Class of 1955; a member of the West Point Glee Club that appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show; and served two tours in Vietnam, where he received numerous decorations.

He received his masters degree in Public Administration from the University of MO at K.C.; was a member of GAMMA BETA PHI; a Kentucky Colonel; a patron of the arts in Birmingham, where he served on the Opera board; and CEO of AQAF.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth K. Miller; three sons, John W. Miller II (Polly Garmon), John Michael Kincaid and Richard C. Kincaid (Laura Tate); three daughters, Melanie Powers (Greg), Melinda Wicker (Greg) and Susan Seagle (Mark); twelve grandchildren, Greggory Maril, Philip John, and Meleah Powers; Greg II and John Henry Wicker; John (Jay) III and Melissa Miller; Cynthia, Lydia, John Mark, and Julia Seagle; and Matthew Kincaid. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jean Peterson Miller, and his parents R. Walton and Leona Miller.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, from 7 PM until 9 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at 2 PM at Saint Mark UMC, with Rev. Belon Friday officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing. "On the last day, take us to be with Thee in eternal fellowship."
