Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Dugan on February 14, 2011:

This is coming in late and there is "no excuse, sir!" But I knew that you would wait, Tom. I met you at Yokohama High School a very long time ago and we spent a lot of good times there with our other Class and School mates. A small and tightly knit group that established bonds from the forties that live to this day. We both attended Sullivan School together 1950-51, and I recall our streetcar rides to the DC Armory to attend drill in our uniforms - we were both National Guard "enlistees" then and previously. It did pay for us in increased pay our whole Army careers, didn't it, Tom.

I didn't see much of you at WP because you were a flanker and I was only a normal sized guy in E-1. Many years later we got together at the Yokohama reunions and those were good times. Once you picked me up at Manassas, VA in the nineties so we could drive up to Bob Newton's for a Class luncheon and gathering in the DC area. I flew up in a small airplane from Lexington Park, MD and you made life so much easier by kindly driving me.

So long, Tom, we'll see you later.

Dan
