Died in Havre De Grace, MD
Cremated.

Leo Robert St. Amour Jr. died on September 28, 2018. He was the son of the late Leo Robert St. Amour Sr. and Grace Anona St. Amour. He was born on March 5, 1933 in Barre, VT and spent his early years in St. Albans, VT; Washington, DC; and Claremont, NH, where he graduated from Stevens High School in 1951. He was an ardent biker, hiker and hunter during his high school years. Subsequently, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955.

Originally commissioned a second lieutenant in the Artillery, his first duty station was with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. In addition to his normal duties, he constantly volunteered for experimental parachute jumps to help develop equipment and tactics for airborne troops. Subsequent assignments took him to Fort Bliss, TX; Taiwan; Okinawa (where he transferred to the Ordnance Corps); Fort Sill, OK; Korea; Turkey; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; and Vietnam. During his long military career he earned many military awards, including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (twice), Joint Service Commendation Medal (twice), the American Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnamese Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class, and the Republic of China 823 Badge of Honor, as well as several others.

After retirement from the military, Leo, along with his family, raised and showed Morgan horses, exhibition poultry and purebred dairy goats. During this time, he also was manager of a national tax preparation office in Havre de Grace, MD. After giving up farming, he and his wife, Margaret, established L & P Tax Service, serving many clients with whom they had become good friends. Leo enjoyed traveling and the company of his many friends. He was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Club, the Military Officers Association of America, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 47, Disabled Veterans of America, Friends of the Concord Point Lighthouse, and Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. During his life, in the military and beyond, Leo worked with the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America and Maryland 4-H organizations.

Leo leaves his wife, Margaret Ann, and his son, Michael Alan St. Amour Sr., as his survivors. Also surviving are stepchildren Cynthia Lorraine Andrews, Trudy Lynn Sullivan and William John Brogan Jr. He also leaves grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his daughter Susan Elizabeth predeceased him.
