I have lost a roommate and one of the three closest friends that I had. Tom's keen sense of humor was legendary. He absolutely could not abide people who were impressed by themselves, and his subtle comments pricked many a balloon. Tom loved dogs, and he and Gerry normally had three German Shepherds. They visited us one time and had their dogs in their van. They were reluctant to bring them in the house because of our two long haired Dachshunds. Our back yard was fenced in, so I suggested that they let their dogs run back there. One of the dogs leaped into our pool. Realizing the danger, Tom jumped right in after the dog and hoisted him to safety. Tom felt the same loyalty to his friends, and he would jump into any situation for a friend in need. |
