Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Richard V. Secord on May 7, 2015:

It was as a Plebe in M-1 Company when academics started in 1951 that I first met Tom. He was to be a 5 year man and he was one of my new room mates. Thus began quite an exceptional experience, especially that of living with a guy who was already recognized.

Tom was an exceptional man and a great leader. He was transferred to A-2 First class year to be their Company Commander, and we missed him! Meanwhile he taught me to play Lacrosse, and I played every year on our intramural squad. I also had the opportunity to tutor Tom in "juice"--his nemesis.

Tom made a terrific soldier, and he is remembered as such by his old Company mates. I was fortunate to have stayed in touch with Tom over the years. He was lucky to have found Gerry who complimented him so well. I am sure all of us surviving from M-1 feel his loss. Until we meet again Tom!
