James Hanlin Kinzer, Jr. James Hanlin Kinzer, Jr., 69, of Dorval, Quebec, Canada, and formerly of Demopolis, died Monday, April 29, 2002, following an illness of 26 years with multiple sclerosis. The last 10 years of the illness were spent in a Quebec hospital. His parents were the late J.H. Kinzer, Sr., and Artee Crawford Kinzer of Demopolis. He is survived by a wife of 30 years, Denyse Kinzer of Doval; a daughter, Lisa Marie Halebi; a granddaughter, Talya, of Dorval; and a brother, George Crawford Kinzer of Chelsea, Mich. During his tour with the U.S. Army, Jack Kinzer served in airborne and ranger orientation at Ft. Benning, Ga., followed by an assignment in Germany. On leaving the Army he joined the Euclid Division of General Motors and worked first in Cleveland and later during the mid-60s in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Ultimately, he was associated with the Euclid dealership in Montreal. While in Montreal Jack Kinzer met his future wife, Denyse. They were married in the Demopolis Presbyterian Church in the mid-70s. Jack's father was a district manager for Alabama Power Co. and his mother served for a time as secretary of the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce and as Synod Moderator of the Presbyterian Women of the Church. At Demopolis High School Jack Kinzer was a student leader serving as class president and Key Club president. One of his nicknames, in fact, was "Mr. President." Following cremation, a small private service will be held in Dorval, Quebec, with a full military memorial service at West Point in August.
