Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Ryan on October 20, 2010:

Trinity Episcopal Church in historic Staunton, VA held a service celebrating the life of our classmate Colonel Morris T. "Pop" Warner, 16 October 2010. Eulogies were given by Rod Davis who considered Pop his best friend and John W. Munce a nephew. Attendees included: 7 close family members, 7 nieces and nephews, 3 cousins, and 9 grand nieces and nephews. Representing the Class of '55: Bill (who was LCA) Anderson and Anita, Rod and Kathie Davis, John and Ruth Sloan, Marcia Cathey, Mac McIlroy, Bill and Joy Dickson, and yours truly. (Note: Bill Anderson wore his old Air Force uniform which still fits!)

After the service in the Church, the burial procession wound its way to the Thornrose Cemetery for the burial service. A USAF funeral detail carried the casket, folded the flag and presented it to Pop's longtime companion Debra Powell.

Following the burial, attendees gathered at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel for lunch as guests of Pop's family.
