| I didn't know Charlie at West Point. I wish I had! I didn't know Charlie in the Army. I wish I had! But once I met the man, he made me feel like we had been friends forever. That's the way Charlie was. He was a "good old boy" from the South, but he was a true leader, a great Class officer, a real soldier, and most of all a loyal friend. Charlie made all our lives richer and as Class President went the extra mile to bring the Class of 55 closer together. In later life, I really got to know Charlie. I'm glad I did!!! |
